Eithne Roberts

This body of work was motivated by a selection of garments I have collected over the years from different eras, vintage, antique and contemporary clothing. I find these items fascinating as they are imprinted with the memories of anonymous people who once wore them, yet used by me as the catalyst for a narrative and memories of my own making.
Predominantly this work is images of young girls, although the identity of the image is ambiguous and often shrouded in mystery and darkness.
In my practice I work primarily with paint although I sometimes explore sculpture. The process of painting is important to me. The layering of paint allows accidental elements of chance to be revealed in the images, with the unknown coming into play.
